Message From Our Chairman

Naviscan is on track for a record first quarter in 2010, no small feat after the challenging year the medical imaging industry as a whole endured in 2009.  This success can be linked to increased clinical acceptance starting with 7 podium presentations in the first quarter alone, our continuing international sales expansion as we enter new markets in Asia and Latin America, and the growing buzz from preliminary results of the NIH-sponsored study* comparing PEM and MR - with PEM demonstrating 6% higher specificity and 26% higher PPV than breast MR.

There are also several unique new customers worth highlighting.  Alliance Imaging will be capitalizing on the convenient size and relative portability of the scanner servicing 9+ customers in Florida by transporting PEM in a mobile van.  Another exciting new customer is First Coast Oncology in Jacksonville, FL.  This oncology group is not only using PEM for the current indications, but also will be the first in the nation to combine PEM technology with the AccuBoost image-guided breast irradiation procedure to optimize therapy treatment.  We are also pleased to announce that Johns Hopkins, and more specifically Dr. Richard Wahl, a luminary in the field of nuclear medicine, has acquired a scanner to perform pre-clinical and translational research on novel radiotracers.

As always, Naviscan is committed to responding to our customers' needs.  Please do not hesitate to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  with any specific requests or suggestions.  We look forward to hearing from you in 2010!

PEM Demonstrates 26% Higher PPV than Breast MR

Three key preliminary results from an NIH-sponsored prospective multi-site study of 388 women have been released pending publication of the study's manuscript.  First, PEM demonstrated 6% greater specificity than MR, reducing false positives.  Second, PEM and MR had comparably high sensitivity and third, PEM was found to have 26% higher PPV than MR, potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies.  See video of an interview with the study P.I. Dr. Wendie Berg.
